RTCMD provides meals, counseling, and spiritual care to the men and women who work behind the scenes with our horses every day. Every gift - large or small - makes a difference in someone's life. Thank you for helping us bring hope, healing, and connection to the backstretch.

Meet the Team

Chaplain Ron Singh
Ron Singh has been faithfully serving the Maryland backstretch community since 2012, where he has become a beloved and indispensable presence. Known for his warmth, encouragement, and deep love for people, Ron is a true light in a demanding industry. He is a familiar face at every live racing day—encouraging jockeys before the first race, offering support to the gate crew, and walking the barns to meet both the spiritual and practical needs of workers. Each Wednesday evening, he leads a non-denominational church service followed by a meal, providing fellowship and care for all who attend.
For more than a decade, Ron has carried out this ministry largely on his own, often without salary, driven purely by his passion to share God’s love with every person on the track. Before becoming chaplain, Ron’s own career in racing began in South Africa, where he attended jockey school and went on to win more than 500 races as a jockey. After coming to America, he continued working in the industry as an exercise rider before answering the call to chaplaincy. His dedication, compassion, and unwavering presence make him one of a kind—a trusted friend and spiritual anchor to the entire racetrack community.
Hugh McMahon – President
Hugh McMahon is a respected horseman and accomplished trainer with over 1,000 career wins. With more than a decade of training experience, he is widely regarded within the racing industry for his dedication and knowledge of the sport. Before becoming a trainer, Hugh rode professionally as a jockey, giving him firsthand insight into the unique lifestyle, challenges, and hardships faced by riders. This background deeply informs his work as a member of the chaplaincy team, enabling him to connect with and minister to jockeys and racetrack workers with genuine understanding and empathy. Beyond his success on the track, Hugh has a deep passion for sharing the gospel and serving the spiritual needs of racetrack workers and the broader racing community.

Bob Haynes – Vice President
Bob Haynes has been a longtime fixture in the thoroughbred industry from the mid 1970’s. Bob has been a jock agent, owner, breeder and late in his career a trainer. Bob has many of his retired horses on his Rob Ry Farm. He says “They gave their all and deserve to relax the rest of their lives”, he goes on to say “ They are Gods creation and caring for them is a labor of love”. Bob is passionate about the racing industry and is dedicated to sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with the backstretch community. His fundraising experience is a tremendous asset to the chaplaincy’s mission.
Lisa Geraghty – Secretary
Lisa has been part of the Maryland horse racing industry since 1979 and has worked in nearly every aspect of the business. She has held her trainer’s license since 1992 and previously ran a full-service thoroughbred farm. Having lived and worked through the unique challenges of the racing world, Lisa brings both expertise and empathy to her role. Her heart is to serve and support the racetrack community she has long called home.
Laura Catlett – Treasurer
Laura Catlett is an owner and breeder of thoroughbred racehorses and currently enjoys watching her horses compete under the training of Milan Milosevic. A CPA and tax attorney by profession, Laura brings both financial expertise and a passion for racing to the chaplaincy. She has a heart for supporting the backstretch community and is dedicated to advancing the chaplaincy’s mission of care and service.
